Seared tofu with chili sauce
Ingredients:
tofu:
- 4 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp sliced green onions
- 2 teaspoons of toasted sesame seeds
For the chilli sauce:
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of AYAM ™ soy sauce
- 4 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of AYAM ™ Sweet and Salty Pepper Sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped
- 1 tablespoon of AYAM ™ Sriracha Pepper Sauce
- 1-2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1-2 tablespoons of water
- 1 teaspoon of toasted sesame seeds
Preparation:

Cut the block of tofu into cubes.

Sprinkle cornstarch over the tofu and toss gently until well coated.
For the sauce :
- In a small saucepan, add the water, soy sauce, sugar, Sriracha sauce, Sweet and Salty pepper sauce and garlic and bring to a boil.
- In a small bowl, mix 1-2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 1-2 tablespoons of water. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the sauce and whisk well.
- Reduce the heat if necessary and continue to cook for a minute or two until the sauce thickens then remove from the heat and set aside.
For the seared tofu:
- In a pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil.
- Once the oil has heated up, add the tofu and cook for about 6 minutes on each side so that a nice, even crust forms.
- Remove from the pot and drain on a paper towel.
- Add the tofu sauce just before serving.
